iPHONE OS 5 LAUNCHED WITH OVER 200 NEW FEATURES

Owning an iPhones has become even more attractive with the new iOS 5. Packed with more than 200 new features, the new operating system is a massive upgrade from the previous version.

One of the key enhancements is a new notification system that is less intrusive. Instead of appearing as pop-ups, notifications now come within a notification bar located at the top of the screen. The bar can be pulled down to unveil all notifications. It also provides additional information such as weather and stock price movements. Users can choose to receive notifications from social network applications such as Facebook through the same system as well.

Taking and editing photos have become much easier with i OS5. The volume control button now doubles up as a camera shuttle, allowing you to hold the phone like a camera. You can also tap on the camera button to take a photo without unlocking your phone. Photo editing functions such as Auto-enhance, Red-eye, Crop and Rotate have also been incorporated in the OS, which means you can now edit photos on your iPhone.

More reviews of iOS 5 can be found at Mashable, one of the largest independent news sources that cover digital culture, social media and technology.
It is amazing how mobile phones are changing the way we do things with each and every new generation of operating system. We are practically holding a powerful mini-computer in our hands these days. It is a phone, a camera, a video conferencing device, an electronic organiser, an alarm clock and much more, all combined into one. It is no wonder that children are growing up as “technophiles” and more importantly, “produsers” of the internet.

It is amazing how easy it is to publish your work to the whole world these day with mobile devices such as hand phones and tablet PCs. You can tag and upload photos and videos almost immediately after you have taken them onto the Internet, and contribute to news making and folksonomies.

I wonder how many people realise that they are forming new knowledge structures by doing that.

  1. what a interesting story. The iphone always reminds me of Steve Jobs. He is such a creative genius and the world lost a dear friend. Hope APPLE could follow his spirit.
